“Clean Sweep” for the SPARC Club Station

The SPARC club used the ARRL Phone Sweepstakes to train new operators, and those who have not participated in the Sweepstakes before. We also conducted antenna evaluations. We did not expect a “Clean Sweep” which requires contacts with all 84 US and Canadian sections. But we got the sweep through a team effort of nine hams.

SPARC November Operating Event – ARRL Sweepstakes SSB

The ARRL Side Band Sweepstakes (ARRl-SS-SSB) runs from 4:00 pm EST on Saturday 19 November until 10:00 pm EST Sunday 20 November.

The objective of the contest is to support amateur self-training in radio communications, including improving amateur operating skills, conducting technical investigations, and intercommunicating with other amateurs. Stations in the United States and Canada (including territories and possessions) exchange information with as many other US and Canadian stations as possible on the 160, 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 meter bands. SPARC September Operating Event – CQ WW DX RTTY

Operators and Trainees Needed: The CQ Worldwide DX RTTY Contest is a major event. The last time SPARC entered the club finished #9 US, #9 North America and #39 World with 38 hours of operation. Present Club members in that effort were KR4U, N2ESP, WA4EEZ and W4CU. The contest offers the chance to work great HF DX. Details can be found at:

WRMI Field Trip

Howdy All SPARC members. On Saturday, September 10th at 11:30am we will be getting a tour and behind the scenes visit to WRMI in Okeechobee, FL. we will depart the St Pete area at ~8:30am to ensure plenty of travel time.
